One Voice Movement

I thought I'd highlight a peace organization for this week's blog. One Voice Movement is an international organization with branches in both Israel and Palestine. Both the Israeli and Palestinian branch work within their own societies to strengthen and encourage moderates to become active and be leaders in their society. This work is very important as the voice of extremists on both the Israeli and Palestinian side are becoming the dominant forces in the conflict.

Currently, One Voice Palestine is launching a campaign called Imagine 2018. This campaign is designed to get people to imagine the year 2018 if peace and a Palestinian state were to come next year, 2011. People are encouraged to imagine what life would be like seven years after occupation. In a place where hope is dwindling, Imagine 2018 is a way to get people to hope and create a vision of the future, to which they can work toward.

Bethany,
I am a Covenant Pastor working with EAPPI here in Israel/Palestine. I am posted in Yanoun more or less near Nablis (don't bother to try to find it on a map, it is too small) and my wife is posted in Jerusalem. I would love to make contact with you. I will be in Jerusalem this Thursday afteroon and evening and Friday morning. If that doesn't work we will be here until the end of February so something else will work out.
